Burning Question

I'm at my wits end. Not all the time but when I use the restroom I have a burning sensation at the opening of my rectum. My stools, when this happen, tend to be on a lighter brown to almost yellowish color and are very hard to clean up even if they are bulked up a bit. What is causing this?

I'm apparently in recovery but never confirmed with a negative test. Could I still have the inflammation from the colon? Please help! I also still have the abdominal pains and cramping.

That has happened to me when stools are looser. I'm not sure what causes it. There are some ointments that you can use and a lotion to clean with called Balneol that is soothing.

Yes, exactly. When the stool is formed or harder it doesn't do it right? I'm so happy I'm not the only one with this. I've asked around and searched and haven't found anyone else that has had that same thing.

Yeah , loose stool and D tend to inflame the anal and rectal area , that's why you are having that burning sensation. You can get over that sensation if you wash after every BM with warm water and soap and put on a ointement.

The washing does help. I usually go in the morning and then I rinse off the area with a hand shower. In Europe people have bidets, but whatever works. I used to keep the balneol in my purse and use it if I was out of the house. You just put it on the toilet paper and it cleans better and has something to soothe the area. You can find it at the drug store. Comes in s platic bottle with a squeeze top.

Try Desitan or a "sticks like glue" product called Sudacrem manufactured in Ireland beginning 85 years ago. It is available on Amazon.

So is this burning just something that develops with C-Diff? Never used to have it this long afterward something like going to the bathroom. Could it be assumed that the increased sensitivity is because the body is still trying to heal the damage done by the CDI?

Yes, the diarrhea from CDiff and soft mushy stools cause this. As long as you have checked with the Dr. to make sure everything looks good there and no infection etc. then everyone elses suggestions are good. I used the balneol lotion alot.. Just wiping probably doesn't clean the area as much as we think so washing up is good idea. I hope this goes away for you soon as I know how miserable it feels. Good luck.

Yeah it started with my diarrhea from C-Diff in July of 2015...and then it got better and then will get worse as time goes on depending on the stool that day. I've had doctors check to make sure there is no fissures or hems and they said there wasn't and they didn't mention any signs of infection when they checked.

The return. Of the burning and loose stools was my first relapse sign, but it seems lots of people here have it without a relapse too. Not trying to scare you, but that was what I experienced.

I've been having it pretty consistently after my round with vancomycin...so, could it be that it never truly left me?

I think it is probably more irritation, but you can always test for c diff if you think it is from that. I am positive for c diff right now without D and I have the burning too.

Does the burning largely leave you when you're not active with C DIff?

A year after you were cleared of c.diff it's probably got no connection to your current symptom of burning.
I would think that if c.diff toxin was causing burning on the way out it would be causing full on c.diff symptoms on the much more sensitive inside that accommodates the receptors that it attacks!
You say they checked for hems etc but did they check for yeasts or parasites like pinworms?
