Should I be concerned?

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Should I be concerned?

Postby Cm1619 » Sun Jun 19, 2016 8:54 am

Hello all. I have been dealing with some on-and-off IBS-D symptoms all through my recovery, which I'm about 2 months out from. The past 3 weeks I've had a lot of stress so my stools have been mostly soft but I've had a good day here and there and they loose stools are only in the morning. Because of this, my doctor isn't concerned about c diff with my symptoms but wants me to see a GI specialist this week to make sure nothing else is going on with me. I'm slowly introducing new things to eat and the past few days I've eaten a few new things but nothing crazy-still no dairy, no alcohol and no fried foods. I woke up this morning with loose stools and what looked like blood!!! I ate a grilled red pepper(sweet) with my chicken last night so I'm wondering if that could have digested that fast and that's all I'm seeing?? I've never really seen blood in my stool(or I should say never looked for it) and it was just little "bits" or "chunks" of jelly-like red pieces. Should I be freaking out?? My appointment with the GI is in 2 days but I'm wondering if I should go to Urgent Care? This sucks because it's Sunday and it's my birthday and my husband is out of town for work and I'm caring for our little one :( So now C diff has officially also ruined my birthday.

Hi Cm1619
I have a problem with digesting red peppers.Everytime i eat something with red peppers the next day , they appear in my BM. Don't know why , i have no problems with yellow or green pepper , but the red peppers come out mostly undigested.

That's interesting Georgina. I think I've been the same way in the past. I vaguely remember being freaked out by undigested red pepper but it's hard to remember things like that before c diff haha. I wonder if I could have digested them that quickly? I only ate it last night!

I can't say it is the red peppers for sure but yes, they can go through your gut that fast, especially with IBS. The transit time is shortened. Think about when you eat corn.

There are so many foods I have not gone near in recovery, GI feels I need to go very slow. There are some on here that go right back to eating everything and do just fine but often healing takes time.
I would keep the APPT with the GI, I think everyone should follow up with one post CDIFF, alot can occur in recovery.
Feel Better soon and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Happy Birthday! When I eat red peppers among other red foods, it will come out undigested to an extent and will appear red. As the others said, with IBS, you can have a fast transit time which can cause undigested food. I just ignore it as I don't feel pain or any GI discomfort.
