On Vancomycin as of yesterday

Postby Sweet » Fri May 27, 2016 2:56 pm

I changed from metro to Vancomycin yesterday (5/26/16). I actually had more direahea in one sitting then with metro but with metro, I was going more times a day. is it normal when you switch meds? Do you have to go through diarrhea before it gets better?

Vanco gives some people looser stools or more frequency. I would not worry about it. Probiotics help for some.

Just as Beth said, and additionally it has only been 1 day so anything can happen! Your system has been taking a beating and now your gut is under attack by a new med that hopefully will start working within a few days. Try not to let changes in stool freak you out.

With Vanco usually , it takes 4-5 days to see improvement ,it doesn't kick in right away, so be patient.
