Yellowish stool

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

Yellowish stool

Postby jjglad » Thu May 12, 2016 4:33 am

I was curious if anyone has dealt with yellowish stool? Granted, I have tried a few meds here lately to try and slow things down, but it looks brown in the bowl but wipes a yellowish brown color? ? It is soft formed, but I am also very suspicious of candida overgrowth at this point too. Thoughts?

Typical? Or am I juse truly messed up in recovery?

Don't worry to much about the color. The only thing you have to worry about is D.Pale coloured stools are not unusual in recovery.

The yellowish tinge seems to be part of the whole process. I still have it sometimes too. Maybe it was always there and we just never bothered to look or notice. As long as you are not having D, I would not worry. Your flora has changed and that could be part of it. I had yellow stools, not even brown in the bowl, until I did FMT and then the color changed to brown because of the different flora. If I eat vegetables like spinach, zucchini, asparagus, the stools are darker. I think part of it is diet too and what you eat. Dairy always gave me lighter stools, but now I can't eat it, so I don't know what it would do.

It's funny how once you have had c diff you notice stool color forever after.
Color is partially influenced by diet, medication and how fast stool travels through the colon.
I'm with Georgina. Don't worry about color. Just worry about frequency of d if you have any.

Sweet - are you taking any probiotics? I think some probiotics cause this too. I went back to my original probiotic and the issue slowly went away...???

My stools have always been on the yellowish side since c-diff and I'm 17 months out! I always wondered if probiotics had anything to do with it. My GI always told me not to worry about the color unless it's red or black.

Not sure if it is true, but I have been told by my daughter's pediatrician that Activa yogurt actually MAKES you "go"??!!?? I guess it has certain probiotics in it that help people more with constipation then diarrhea??

I did not tolerate Activia well at all. Got horrible gas and loose stools from it. For me, it definitely made me go and way more than I wanted to.

My stool is lighter in color than it was pre c. diff. My GI thinks my diet is doing it and not to worry about the color, unless it is black...

My stomach doctor said not to worry about the color but my primary asked me if my color of stool changes cause that is a sign of c diff still. So i am confused on that.

Stop looking. If you have a real problem, you will know it.

Stop worrying about colors!! The only thing that you have to worry about is if it's liquid and frequent.
