burrito poops

Since c-diff is a disease of the "lower half", so to speak, we find that many of our members cannot refrain from discussing what comes out the bottom end. If you must do it, please do it here.

burrito poops

Postby richlin » Mon Apr 11, 2016 5:23 pm

This is a honest question... After C-diff does your poops ever go back to the way it used to be? I remember when I had poops the size of my arm (literally, like a burrito). Nowadays they are soft and although formed and bristol type 4 (sausage) they break into multiple pieces. I miss having more dry and cohesive poops...

For some they do eventually and for others they don't.

That's what is strange to me. How come some people go back to normal? It seems like C-diff causes the same destruction. I guess somehow their body just nows how to heal back to normal... Sigh!

I think there are a lot of variables: a person's diet, immune system, age, how long they took drugs like Flagyl and vanco, if they had prior IBS, etc. I know that all the vanco I took really messed up my GI tract. I wish I had done the FMT sooner.

Yeap , like Beth said , some people never return to their old BM habits , i think i'm one of those people.I too , had to take a lot of Vanco to keep symptomes under control , along with anti-TB meds . I think that is what messed up my gut so bad than not even the FMT can solve.

I thought my bm's would never return to normal but they did. I can also eat everything i used to eat before cdiff with no problems. It wasnt till about 4 months after my last flagyl dose though. I lost about 50 lbs initially the first 2 months of being dx but I have gained 30 lbs back.

@ashley20 thanks for the response! Glad to hear some people go back to normal! Seems like the people who go back to normal never come back and pay it forward so it's always doom and gloom news.
