I've not heard of a link between C. diff and kidney injury before, and this article doesn't explain the relationship. Does anyone know what it might be?
If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

For a long time after I first had c diff, I had one UTI after another. Most UTIs are caused by E. coli and can be cured with Macrobid which is considered a "safe" antibiotic and not a c diff offender. I had a scope that showed I also had IC - interstial cystitis. (See CDI - UTIs.)

Five years ago I had a UTI caused by proteus mirabellis. If untreated, it can lead to kidney disease. I insisted on another UA. Same results. Macrobid is not effective against proteus mirabellis. Septra/Bactrim is but I am allergic to sulfa. My doctor used Augmentin. It caused my third and last episode of c diff and the most difficult to treat.

C.diff causes D and in turn that causes dehydration, that damages the kidneys.
It happened to my Mom.
Death from c.diff is often caused because of kidney failure.

Interesting. Pretty frightening too.
