We had a interesting shift Wednesday night. It started with our usual local flooding. Then we got dispatched to a biridge collaspe with the vehicle and occupants in the water being swept away, approx 1/2 mile downstream in class 5 type rapdis. When we arrvied we had 2 vehicles in the water with 7 people on top of the 2 cars. An 11 yr old girl had been in one of the vehicles. She helped her mother pull the 2 toddlers out and get on one of the vehicle's roof, where she climbed out on a tree limb, down the tree, across the pasture getting shocked by the electric fences to call for help. She then returned to the vehicle to help the rest of her family. This made the national news with some incredible video. The news crew just happened to be in the area and assisted in the rescue. You may still be able to find it at KOIN Local 6 news, or our local paper www.Headlight-Hearld, where it's one of the lead stories. In case anybody's wondering, we are working on a medal for the 11 yr old girl.
Bottom line is that we got all of them and nobody got hurt.
Fire
got them all
