Need help on how to put a URL in a post

Hi - Could someone explain to me how to put a clickable URL in a post please.

I've tried putting URL just at the beginning, and putting it at beginning and end, and neither works ... grrrrrrrr.

Thanks Roy. I'll just do that next time (that's what I do in emails, etc.). But when posting on this site there's that URL box in upper right hand corner and thought you had to click on it to make a link show up. Wonder what that box is for?
