After months recovering from another fracture (two bones in my right arm), I went to Jazzercise today and kept up with the 20, 30, 40, 50 year olds. I have taken Jazzercise 26 years during bouts of c diff, 8 bouts of pneumonia. and 4 broken bones. (I am 76.)
Whenever I have to miss for awhile it is difficult to make myself go back. By the 3rd or 4th time, I am OK. This time was the most difficult because in the last 11 months, we moved and I had 3 surgeries and lots of PT.
Years of c diff and steroid meds for asthma and osteomyelitis ruined my bones and caused severe osteoporosis.
Be sure and take enough calcium and vit. D.

Wow, Bobbie, Congratulations! I know it's hard to get started back. I am 45, and 9 weeks past an FMT (worked so far), and haven't really exercised since before that. I was considering going to the gym today to try... and I think you have just inspired me to go! ;-)

Congratulations Bobbie!!! It's so hard to get back into the swing of exercise when your of the more "mature" generation after various onslaughts to your health. We are in the same age group, and I've found daily exercise (even if it's only stretching and pilates) works wonders to keep the muscles from atrophy. It also strengthens the bones and keeps the brain sharp. Good for you. Keep it up!!!

Good to hear from you. Yes, exercise is important at any age - but especially for us mature people. I have never tried Pilates because i have a hiatal hernia and core work is hard on it.
It felt so good to br dancing again - although I probably looked like a baby elephant. Ker plunk, ker plunk.

Last year when I was very depressed and just staying in the house close to the bathroom, reading about your c diff history and determination to stay active and exercise inspired me to get off the couch...So with adult diapers on I started to take my dog for our long walks and hikes again......I also started an exercise routine that continues to this day....
