FLU VACCINE

Postby justme » Fri Sep 02, 2016 11:29 pm

This is just a reminder to everyone to get their dose of flu vaccine. The flu season starts soon and even though it is viral, side effects from the flu can bring about nasty bacterial infections leading to possible necessity for antibiotics. There are two dosage options again this year - regular and high. I got the high dose because I am an old broad with health issues.
Much aloha to all,
Anne

Good reminder. I did not get a flu shot last year and I came down with Influenza B which landed me up in the hospital with a very low and dangerous white blood cell count. I also had a secondary infection and needed antibiotics and then 6 weeks later tested positive for c difficile. So, I will definitely be getting a flu shot this year!

Thank you for the reminder! Since I work in the hospital, California requires all healthcare workers to get the flu shot or wear a mask at all times from October thru March. Interestingly, for those of you that have ever got the Flu Mist, the nasal flu spray, the CDC does not recommend it this year. Apparently its efficacy was only 20% as opposed to the shots 67%.
