My Foot

Postby Bobbie » Sun Jul 17, 2016 6:49 pm

I get my stitches out Tues. - hopefully., Then I can take a real shower instead of a "spit" bath. Will have to using walker and walking shoe until I see doc in 3 weeks. Then can start walking again. Unfortunately, wrist I broke years ago is swollen and sore from using the walker. Doc's think my osteoporosis is due to malabsorption from c diff, use of steroids for asthma, and genetics.

Have doc appointments all week - eye doc tomorrow. Have cataracts but not a good candidate for surgery because of other problems, also Pulmo appointment. Have cancelled many appointments but keeping these because many doc's here will drop you if you do not see them once a year. And I so love to see doc's.

Doubt if I will be on the site much this week. Doc appointments, depressed , tired, and been on here since 1999 - too long.

Thanks to everyone for all their hard work.

Bobbie, I hope all goes well with your appointments and yay for a real shower!!! That must have been rough. Thank you for all you do on this site. I know you have been doing this for so long. Please know that you helped me more than you will know. This site saved me many times when there was no one or nothing else to turn to.

Sorry the wrist is acting up on top of everything else. You are a strong person!

Hope you have a relaxing week and don't have to think about health issues too much!!!

Hi Bobbie. Have you asked for one of those wheelie scooters? Would that be better than a walker? Hope your week goes OK and they can figure out how to do the cataract surgery. My mom is thrilled with her results. They gave her prescription lenses in her eyes so she sees 20/20 now.

Bobbie: Boy can I relate. It seems like I'm living my life traveling from doctor to doctor for everything from my brain to my ass (and all points in between). Getting older isn't for wimps. I need cataract surgery too (both eyes). Fortunately, they only do one at a time and use antibacterial eye drops for a prophylactic. Not being able to walk normally is hell. I well remember my broken leg from a bike accident on Mackinaw island in 2005 and the plane trips back to Hawaii (it was hell). You have been such a support for me and everyone else on the site. I hope you start feeling better and back on both feet as quickly as possible. Take good care of yourself and let us know how you are doing.
Aloha nui loa,
Anne

Thx,everyone. Amyc, I do have a knee scooter. Better than the other choices.

Justme, I have two very ill friends.,One has GI problems. Doc's cannot find out why, she tells me about them in detail- enough! Isn't this a fun age?

Bobbie - Finally to get those stitches out! Hooray! I hope all goes well with the appointment and we'll talk in the next couple of days. I've had my own problems here with doctors appointments. I know how you feel.

Praying that your week of dr appts all go well. I can't even imagine your frustration with the recovery of your foot, but compared to just a couple of weeks ago, it sounds as if things are getting better. You are getting closer to that Jazzercise!

And you are an angel to have helped and supported so many people on this site for so many years. You helped me immensely, and I will always be grateful. You are much appreciated here by many.

Hang in there, Bobbie!

I have been thinking of you Bobbie and happy sutures are out! Another step forward!! The wrist is more than likely due to over use with the walker and once you are walking in a few weeks it will need a rest.
You may want to check with your MD about a neoprene wrist support while using the walker. It might help.

Soon this will all be behind you and you can enjoy your new home!!

Take Care

Thx, Nancy. Sutures out today - can take a shower tomorrow!

Nurse told me to wait until I see doc in 3'wks to walk when he popped in, said everything looks good and to start walking gradually now. My balance is good so I am doing just that. Can drive in 3 more weeks.

Have a wrist support I used on my wrist when I broke it, and it helped. I panicked at first but then realizes the swelling was probably from using the walker and wrenching my wrist.

Two doc's down and one to go. Cataract doc said I would have extra risks so wait if I want to do so. Pulmo Thursday and then periodontist next week.

Would love to get follower floor and straighten things out but suppose too soon.

Hope you are doing well.

Sutures out yesterday - almost 20 of them. First shower in weeks! Dr. McDreamy said I "did a good job of resting the foot" and he had been worried about me. Be still my heart! He said to "walk through" - which I am not sure means what have been walking as much as possible but used my scooter at the restaurant tonight. I also have a walking boot.

We went out to dinner with "friends"? Have known this couple for many years. The moment she came in the house. She started criticizing it. She straightened all the pictures and said she thought the entryway chandelier was "crooked." (She wants a new house but her husband refuses to move.) We are in several groups together so killing her is not an option.

Saw eye doc yesterday - cataract specialist - and he agrees I am not a good candidate for surgery altho I was impressed with him. We were there three hours. Tomorrow is the Pulmo and next week the periodontist and then I should be through the doc marathon. Most doc in this are require you see them once a year, and i had cancelled several appointments, I usually don't see more than one doc a month because i am so sick of sickness.

Surgeon is cute though! He is 36 - could be my son! In fact is younger than my oldest son. Oh, to be young and pretty again!!!!

I was thinking of you and was going to message you. So happy for you!
When your wrist swells try icing it also. But hopefully now you can take a turn resting that body part since you don't have to rest the other part quite as much.
They can't even do your cataract surgery using lasers? That's how I had both eyes done. (And my mom is just getting hers done for the first time- where is the justice in the eye genes I received?)
Jazzercize before you know it.

Glad to hear of the progress with the foot recovery. What would make you a not-good candidate for cataract surgery?

Can relate to your displeasure with the critical "friend"; I had one of those, too, when I bought my house many years ago. Sounds like she needs to enroll in Manners 101.
If your illness was preceded by use of a medication, e.g., an antibiotic, please fill out an FDA Adverse Event Report at http://www.fda.gov/Safety/MedWatch/default.htm

I have very dry eyes - even with using Restatsis - and had a retinal tear. These are two of the side effects of cataract surgery. The doctor agreed -- seeing him again on Feb. 14.

Most people do not have problems with the surgery. I usually seem to fall in the strange 2 to 5 percent. Same with c diff.

Everyone has a "friend" like these "friends." The minute she started her critique, I should have said something. Too slow on the "uptake" and surprised at her audacity.

If I were you, I would not go out with them again. If the husbands are friends, let them do lunch together. You don't need that kind of person in your life.
