Blood count was better. Neutrophils were normal for the first time and white count still low, but improved. I have to have another test on Monday or Tuesday to see if it has gone up to normal. Doctor said ok to stop antibiotic. Hopefully, fever will not return. I have never felt so exhausted in my entire life. I hope the reaction I had this morning was from the medication and not some other complication. At the hospital all my levels were off - calcium, liver function, albumin, etc. My husband is trying to help cook nutritious food so that I can get my strength back. Anyway, one day at a time. Meanwhile, I'm praying and taking lots of probiotics.

Thank you. I wish you could all get on a plane and come too. I'm praying for all of you as well and for an end to c diff one of these days. Georgina, take care of yourself. It sounds like you have some kind of flu too. Never thought influenza could make someone so sick. Doctor said it can affect people's brains and cause encephalitis and also their hearts and cause myocarditis and other stuff. I have learned my lesson about not getting the flu shot. From now on, every year like clockwork! Now I am hoping the fever stays away and sinusitis doesn't start up again. I think the antibiotic helped and I hope I did not stop too soon, but after all the IV antibiotics, I would think they did their job.

Glad you are better. One day at a time.

It is almost 1:00 AM in KC and we are waiting for our son from the UK. We have not seen him for over a year. He is here on business - flying from Seattle.

"Kids" can be a big worry. Both of mine will be here on Mother's Day.

Feel better. Happy Mother's Day.

Yes i am dealing with the flu as well , according to my pulmo doctor , but it is not severe like yours and maybe it's because i had my flu shot in january.I don't have fever but i have a have a runny nose , sore throat ,fatigue and coughing really bad.I am not taking antibiotics but my doc prescibed an oral vaccine for the respiratory tract .The vaccine is called Luivac and it is oral polyvalent bacterial lysate ,is for people with recurrent respiratory tract infections . I must take it 28 days then off for a month then again 28 days .I really hope it helps because i'm so sick of getting the flu , althoufgh i thank God is not TB.I've got it 3 times in 5 months. Your doctor is right , influenza can give a lot of complications and you seem prone to respiratory infection just like me ,so yes, you have to take the flu shots.
Feel better soon! {{hugs}}

Beth, just an FYI for future reference, I got different answers from the ENT than from the internist about my sinusitis, although it was not an ID doc and I didn't have your complications. The ENT was the one who suggested the inhalation for the acute sinusitis due to my history of c diff and he would do it in his office, but it turned out despite the infection lingering for over a month it was still viral. I refused to listen to anyone except the ENT- when it came to sinusitis, not the flu and all your other issues.
Glad you seem to be getting better. I live alone now and even though I want to be "left alone" when sick I know how hard it can be to feel miserable and isolated those times nobody is around to help.
Thinking of you!!! Keep getting better every day.
We all have to remember to get flu shots next year!!!!

Had a bad night. Woke up anxious and jittery, dry mouth, heart racing. Now I am told my thyroiditis may be responsible. Doctor never checked that and neither did they run a metabolic panel to see if my potassium, calcium, etc. were back to normal. They were not at the hospital and now it is the weekend. Doctor thinks I just have to "relax" until Monday. He did prescribe 2 mg of Valium for me so that I can take it to sleep tonight if I have to. I'm really ready to give up. If I don't feel as if I am going to pass out, then my head is spinning. I have never felt this sick in my life. Stools were looser today, although not D. I really don't want to worry about c diff as well.

So sorry you are going through this, Beth. My heart breaks for you. I wish cdiff would have a cure so that at least we don't have to worry about the monster while fighting other pathogenes.
I hope that you start to feel better soon! Try the valium. Our bodies are not able to fight as well when in state of fear or in state of alert. Sleep is critical.

I hope doctors help you feel better soon. Keeping you in my thoughts and sending hugs.

Still feel horrible. If I weren't so afraid that they would hospitalize me, I would go to the ER, but I don't want to be put in again. I am going to try to hang in until Monday, use Pepto if needed and try to fall asleep without my muscles jerking me awake. That is so frightening. Doctor is fed up with the phone calls. The doctor that was covering for him complained about the hospital and me calling. Gee - I thought that is what I was paying for!!! She sure was not very thorough! Thankfully, we asked for the specialists to come in who knew what to do.

That doc sounds horrible! You know the joke about the difference between God and a doctor? God doesn't think he is a doctor. Sounds like you got one of those. I surely hope your doc on Monday is better. And helps you!

Have been following your posts and continuing to hope that things will improve. It all sounds like an awful ordeal, not helped, of course, by the obnoxious covering doctor. It's massively unprofessional for a doctor to complain about a patient "calling too much." I'd lodge a complaint about that if it happened to me and I was feeling up to it, which I realize you probably aren't at the moment. Maybe after you're better ... ?
All best,
Allison
