still have a funny smell

Postby txjoanna » Thu May 11, 2017 7:41 am

Is it a bad thing I notice a strange smell still?. I turn in a stool sample today and I'm nervous. I'm on a taper well pulse part this week and next week taking it 3 times a week this week and next week. I'm still experiencing stomach pains but they are mild. My poop sample was mushy with mucus. I really hope I'm not relapsing.

There were a few posters , including myself that relapsed when got to the lowest dose of vanco , hopefully not your case. If those mushy mucusy stools become frequent you might wanna ask your doctor to raise the vanco dosage for awhile. Also , look into Dificid , it cured many people when vanco was failing.

Testing while on meds is almost useless.

Roy testing while on meds really is not useless. I have trust in my drs that they know what their doing. Since it all started with this cdiff I tested twice in hospital stay it came out negative. 2 weeks later my PCP said if I wanted to test to keep my mind at ease I can she has faith its gone. So I did pcr test again negative. recently just seen my GI last week she wanted to test me and may 11 negative. Recently 2 days ago I had stomach pains and rectum pain bad I was admitted in hospital. I'm actually typing this while I lay here in my bed lol. Been ruff week. I did colonoscopy and Egd. Everything look great no signs of infection. So since my colonoscopy result came out good let's me know the 4 test I did with negative result were accurate. I'm still recovering from this but blessed to have a team of drs that care.

I would have to agree with Roy only because my infectious disease specialist and GI both agreed testing while on antibiotics would most likely give a false positive or negative.
You know your body best and if it's telling you something isn't right... then something isn't right! There have been times I've doubted myself when relapsing just because I've been told it's not a relapse or that it's post infectious IBS etc etc.
I wouldn't relapse until a week or so after meds. Or only 2 days after colonoscopies or procedures. But I have seen others relapse while on the low dose. I always know it's c diff because of the urgency and frequent bms.

I understand what your saying no pun attended but if my GI Dr told me my colonoscopy great and no signs of infection I'm gonna leave it to the professionals at this point. I feel fine I don't feel sick all my labs are fine. Every time I got a pcr test was because of my drs I didn't ask them to test me they wanted to so I'm sure they know what their doing. I had taught myself these past two days when I first posted not to get paranoid and relax and that I'm gonna be fine and I gotta believe that. I wish everyone well and a speedy recovery:)
