Any advice for chafing?

Postby Kmoney11 » Mon Mar 07, 2016 12:27 am

Cdif has done a number on my bottom, wondering if anyone has advice for the best toilet paper, cream, or anything to relieve that kind of pain...

There is a lotion that you can put on toilet paper called Balneol. It helps and is soothing, but for the chafing itself, the ones for diaper rash are usually good - Desitin, etc. If those don't help, I would see a dermatologist and get a prescription cream or ointment.

Balneol and witch hazel wipes were my best friends during c-diff!

Lots of good suggestions so far but two more: sitz baths (sitting with your bottom in plain, warm water for 10-15 minutes once or twice a day or after BMs - just a few inches of water in the bathtub or you can get a sitz bath toilet seat on amazon, which is what I did so I don't have to keep filling the tub, and it's easier to clean after use). The other suggestion is for a product someone else on the forum recommended called "Sudocrem" - it's a diaper cream with an antiseptic and zinc and it gives a nice protective layer with a lavender smell. I found that on Amazon as well, but it took a while to get here b/c it's not sold in the US - it came from the UK.

Put a dab of a&d on some toilet paper once you're done it'll help clear it up

Warm sitz bath and Desitin is what helped me when my other end was in pain.

Everyone gave you great hints.

My fav ir Sudocrem. It is great - uses in the UK for diaper rash. It "sticks like glue" and can be ordered from Amazon.

In US, Budreaux butt paste. Like desitin but without baby smell. Smells light, like vanilla!
