45 days on Dificid: smell and nausea show up

Postby sevla » Wed Aug 19, 2015 2:31 pm

Hi everyone, haven't been here lately. Work has been to crazy..plus, too many doctor appointments on top of it.
As I am writing this I am at the OBGYN to follow-up on ovarian cyst, after this appointment I will go straight to breast surgeon appointment to check on breast cysts.. I did a hormone test and I lack progesterone and am estrogene dominant which could explain all the cysts/lumps.

Anyways, so it's not only cdiff giving me anxiety but all these other things (oh, and gallbladder stones). Jeez... I am only 36 years old and feel like I am 100 at the moment...

In the past 24h I have had nausea (woke up during the night twice with it) and today I could sweay stools smell like cdiff (went twice today). I am on day 45 of Dificid!! How is this possible!?! This gives me little hope that the fmt next week will help at all (when 45days on Dificid did not)...

Hi Sevla

I was on Dificid for nearly 3 months on a taper pulse dose. I had many symptoms while on it, I found it very harsh to take. My initial 10 days were fine but after that it became difficult and it was a right time for me.
My stools were all over the place, nausea continued through the 3 months and I had a very hard time eating. But...I am CDIFF free 10 months now. I have continued to have IBS through these 10 months, ups and downs. There have been times I thought it was back, ended up in the ER but tested negative.
It could be you are experiencing symptoms from the medication. Sounds like you are heading towards the FMT soon!!
Wishing you the best!!

Hi Sevla,

So sorry you are still dealing with so much. Keep reminding yourself that this will all pass. You will get better and get through this hard time. I am so glad that the FMT is finally coming up for you. You will be cured. The FMT has the highest cure rate. It's a totally different treatment method than Dificid, so don't get discouraged if the Dificid actually isn't working. But, that may not be the case as Nancy said. It could just be the meds causing symptoms or maybe you even caught some bug. Don't get discouraged.

You are in my thoughts and prayers and can't wait till you can put this behind you once and for all.

Thanks a lot Nanci and Lisa! Your advices and kind words mean a lot to me.

So this happened today: as my OB GYN walks in the room, she is wearing a green doctor's suit with the name of the hospital I got cdiff. I got a panic attack and my brain blocked. I could not focus, could not think straight and could not stop starring at it.. Too crazy!

As I leave this doctor's office to go to the one across the wall to get my breats checked, as I am talking to the registration nurses I can hear women talking about "how easy it is to get a blood infections. So I look to get more details as what they were talking about and all I can see is a boil on a woman's hand as she is saying it popped this morning. I swear my mind and body froze even in a much worse way and I just had time to tell the nurses "I need to reschedule, work is calling me and I need to go in"..so now I have to wait a month to see breast specialist. I cannot believe that my PTSD was so real.... My mind almost left my body in those anxiety/panic moments...

I've had PTSD several times when I had c diff and other stressors at the same time - the first time was when my mother died after she broke a second hip.

I know how you feel. The loss of control is frightening. Hang on. It will get better. Don't push yourself. Try to exercise or get a massage or anything else that will relax you.

You are going through so much. Try to relax and get your mind off of horrible things like blood infections. I was ill on Difficid also, I found it very hard to stomach and didn't feel good for months afterwards. It was the med that finally cured me and that was without an FMT. I'm so happy y9ou are having one. That should kick out the CDiff once and for all. As far as the other problems its good you are addressing them and hopefully in the near future you will be on your way to a complete recovery and feeling much better. Hang in there and let us know how you do.

Thanks a lot, Carol and Bobbie. Again, the support of all of you has been so valuable..thanks so much.
Day two of stools with cdiff smell..and brighter ans looser stools. I haven't had these since the beginning of the relapse (46 days ago). I am frustrated, scared, tired. Moreover, I am a sobbing mess today. Not only because of these cdiff symptoms being back but because I am about to drop off my parents at the airport. They spent 4 weeks with me, helped me put on 4 pounds and helped me emotionally through this harder time. They fly back to Europe today. It is so hard to be through all of this far away from the family. The only family I have here is my spouse..and she is not very understanding at times..

Thank you all again for the support.
