Donor tested positive...

Postby sevla » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:50 pm

So I guess this will not be it yet.. Doctor called me at 9:50pm to tell me mybwife tested positive for c diff. So the FMT scheduled for Friday will not happen.. I can't believe this is happening. I would do anything for a big glass of wine right now...

She has no symptoms but she will have to be careful moving forward whenever she needs antibiotics (which fortunately is once every few years).

My anxiety, frustration, anger - it's all at maximum level..

Oh crap! I'm so sorry to hear that. So super sorry. :'-(

This is only a temporary setback. You will find a donor!

Thanks a lot notheidi.. I hope so. Hopefully step son qualifies..even if he is so young..

Another dilemma I have - shall I know be careful using the same bathroom as my wife? Can I get infected by her?!
Well, I mean after I get rid of this myself..whenever that might be..

You can always ask your doctor if they use OpenBiome. Many doctors use them now and the donors are all pre-screened.

Might be an idea to ask for a culture to see If you both have the same strain.
Its very rare to both be infected.
How old is your step son?

Hopefully he will consider openBiome..it would be so much easier.
Roy, it seems like everything that is rare happens to me.. I don't know if doctor will want to test for the strain, but I will ask.

My step son is 16. Healthy boy, fit, but eats lots of sweets..

So sorry to read this Sevla, I have been out of town a few days. Hoping your stepson works out and you can move forward with the FMT soon!

Thanks a lot, Nanci! We do have already a couple of donors in the "pipeline".
The GI called me actually today as we were playing phone tag during the last few days. My step son is no longer a valid donor as he has eczema. But I have two friends who volunteered. I have a dilemma now, but will post it in a separate post to get people's thoughts.
