Bad Day
I am having a really bad day. I hope it is not c diff again. Tired of cramping and not being able to eat things. Will call GI's office on Monday and see if I can get in before July 29th. Not a good time. Am taking care of daughter's sick dog, kitchen will be demolished for new cabinets and appliances soon. Why can't this just leave me alone? I've put in my time - 7+ years. Time to get well!

Re: Bad Day
Hi Beth, so sorry that you are having a bad day. It's really a day where we should all be enjoying ourselves. This beast does find a special way to ruin many of our days.
What happens when you eat things? Just cramps or are you having frequent loose bowel movements? I don't remember things at times, so sorry if I am asking something you shared before, have you been on atx recently? Or health care facility or nursing home? Are symptoms similar to any of previous relapses? Is there anything you ate out of your ordinary?
Try to relax and hopefully it is just IBS or something you ate is not sitting well. In previous times when you did fecal enemas at home, was it also because you were feeling off or did you test positive?
Sorry for the many questions as I know you must feel so frustrated. 7+ years is a lot and my heart goes to you.
I hope it os not c diff again and hope you can get to GI soon.
Hang in there and I hope you feel better!

Re: Bad Day
It feels like pancreatitis again and no one knows what causes it or what to do about it. I never had it until after c difficile. I did the enemas when I would test positive. I tested a few months ago after having had a positive in Dec and Jan and the test was negative, so I had hoped it was gone, but every once in a while it rears its head again.
When I eat fruit, I will get looser stools, for example. Last night we went out to eat and I ordered grilled chicken, but what they brought me seemed more like it had been sautéed or pan fried. I'm not used to eating anything fried and it could have set off the pancreatitis. I started with cramping and then wound up with loose stool, although not D. This morning the stool was normal, but the pain on the left continues as does gas and that pain and a little nausea. I am eating bland today. Even the pancreatic/biliary specialist doesn't know what causes the elevation in the pancreatic enzymes. "Idiopathic", which means "I don't know."
It's just really discouraging. I feel as if I get a little better, gain a pound or two, and them wham, back to square one. I guess if symptoms continue, I will test next week. Yeast also shows up sometimes in the stool, but I don't think it is causing this.
I go to a nursing facility every week and now in the summer, almost every day to visit my mom. It was when she was hospitalized last November and I sat with her in ER for many hours that I think I got c diff again, but not sure. I have not taken antibiotics since a year ago.

I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad day, Beth. Hopefully it was the chicken that aggravated things and tomorrow will be better. I understand where you are coming from with wanting to be able to eat different things. I am so tired of baked chicken, squash and green beans that I don't know what to do, but anytime I deviate from this things go downhill. I'm only a month out from FMT, so hopefully things will settle down after a while.

Hang in there Beth and lets just hope it was an off day. The spices on the chicken could have set it all off. Prayers for you to feel better.

Beth, thanks for the answers. I hope it's only IBS or what you wait.
I think the others are right - you should get your butt to Hawai and relax! :-)

Re: Bad Day
So sorry you aren't feeling well. Have things gotten better today? It seems that there are two things that affect people after c-diff which must be linked somehow - UTI's and Pancreatitis! I feel like so many write about these two issues after having c-diff. It sounds like it could have been the food that triggered your symptoms. And, I'm sure the stresses of taking care of a sick dog and the upcoming renovation is probably adding fuel to the fire. I know with me, if I eat something that doesn't agree with me, I will get the cramping and D very quickly after. That's usually how I can gage if it's from food. And once I go, I usually feel better, but may have residual gassiness and bloating. I think it's a great sign that you had a normal stool yesterday morning. It's awful that you have been dealing with this for so long. I hope that today is a better day for you, and things have improved!

I'm sorry to hear you had a bad day yesterday! I hope today maybe you are feeling some better and it's in fact not c diff knocking at your door. You've provided so much comfort and advice to me since I joined this site and for that i am eternally greatful, you have no idea!!! I hate to hear that you've been going through some setbacks and had a bad day. Maybe it was simply that, an off day? I'm hoping that's what I'm experiencing as well. Will say a prayer just for you ma'am, after all that is the best medicine :)

Re: Bad Day
The off day continues. I took in some stool samples, although I am not having D at all, but I do have the gassiness. I'm pretty sure it is pancreatitis again. I have the nausea, the gnawing pain in my stomach and things are worse after I eat. I've been trying to eat very bland. Something really strange happens when I get the pancreatitis (I had it curing c diff too). I get this crawly like sensation on my skin, especially if I wake up at night. I also get the heart palpitations and skipped beats. C diff test should be ready tomorrow, but I took in the containers for parasites and for other pathogens too. If I did get some kind of food poisoning, it should show. But, without the D, I think the pancreas is to blame and the scary part is that no one knows how to treat it. The digestive enzymes only make it worse.
I wonder what the UTIs and pancreatitis have to do with the c diff, unless the toxins do something. I felt as if I was getting a UTI at the beginning of the week, before all this started and I am not prone to them. I just drank more and the sensation went away. Honestly, researchers need to do way more research on how c diff affects the body because it is not just something that affects the colon. When I was on vanco, the heart palpitations and the tingly sensation went away. I don't think it was coincidence, as it happened more than once with all the relapses I had. The IBSchek test that I took measures antibodies to toxins and I was positive, so I guess those toxins must still be there. Will have to ask the doctor if they can cause pancreatitis. Just want to feel better.... Dog is going home today and I am going to drag myself to church soon. Hawaii isn't for 6 more weeks unfortunately.

Thanks for the prayers. I am calling the GI's office tomorrow to see if I can get my appointment moved up from the end of the month. If not, I will go see my regular GI. I'm beginning to wonder if I don't have some kind of IBD like Crohn's.

So sorry you aren't feeling better. I also had the awful flushes down my neck chest, and arms and the heart issues. It went away when Iwould get on meds so it must have something to do with the toxins of CDiff. I pray they figure all this out soon. Hope you can get that appt. moved up and hope today is better. Prayers for you always.
