Carol is correct. Our GI tract is the 2nd biggest organ in our bodies (skin is first), and many studies have shown is something is "amiss" with it, it can affect our immune system and/or cause other problems. In 52 years, I had one light case (one spot one lung - didn't miss a day of work) of pneumonia before C. diff. Since my first episode if C diff. (l993-97 - extenuating circumstances), I've had pneumonia (twice in both lungs and hospitalized with it and other infections including C. diff. from the antibiotic) 5 or 6 times.

I hope you can go part-time next year, Liz. Perhaps you can do the FEs this summer and finally get your health back. At least, you will know you have tried everything and you will have less stress.
