Ok, guys. I've been thinking about all the craziness that comes with having this ridiculous disease and some of them were actually a bit humorous. So, I jotted them down and thought I'd post them here because a merry heart really does good like a medicine. Some of you probably have your own to share so let's start a new thread. We can find the humor in anything!
Ways to tell you’ve been affected by c diff:
1. Your pharmacist knows more about you than your own mom does.
2. When playing Scrabble, you amaze everyone by spelling words like cytotoxicity, cephalosporin, and lactobacillus.
3. You had so many bleach products in your shopping cart that the checkout girl called the police because she was positive you were on your way to clean up a crime scene.
4. You might one day need those bleach products because you’ve been plotting to seriously hurt the CEO of a certain antibiotic drug manufacturer.
5. You secretly sprinkle probiotic powder in your family members’ food.
6. You had to dip into your kid’s college fund to pay for your antibiotics, probiotics, doctor visits, and colonoscopies.
7. You’ve actually taught your doctor something he/she didn’t know before about clostridium difficile and/ or how to treat it.
8. You had a t-shirt and/or license plate made that says “CDIFRE” and you wore it or plan to wear it on your one year anniversary of being c diff free.
9. You’ve gotten good at talking real loud when your bowels start that noisy gurgling in public.
10. You always look before you flush.
11. You find yourself lecturing your spouse on the subject of c diff spores.
12. You spend more time on the c diff support Web site than you do with your significant other.
13. You bought stock in the Charmin toilet paper company.

Hi sanboni,
very funny! I have to say I got to tick of most of those! ;-)
Maybe add actually earnestly talking about your bowel habits and wanting to discuss the ins and outs of telling which grumbling sound means what over a nice dinner and being totally surprised when other people stare at you as if you were an alien....

This list is a great idea! I love it!
More:
* You wash your hands more times a day than you can count.
* You scrub your bathroom more hours a day than you can count.
* Your friends run when they see you coming.
* Any time you have any health problem, your first thoughts are, will I need an antibiotic, and will I get cdiff again?
* If you have to go out of town, you spend a couple of hours counting out all the pills you might need.
* On an airplane, you have a couple of fears:
1) If someone is coughing or sneezing, will I catch it (and need an antibiotic... see above)?
2) If there is a line for the bathroom, will I make it??

humor
These are really funny!!!! I've been out of town and haven't been on the site for a while, so I was happy to see the responses. Thanks for responding everyone! The two things that have helped me through this "battle" have been this site and a good sense of humor. It really helps knowing that somebody else out there knows exactly what you're talking about and what you're going through! I certainly didn't mean to make light of the potential seriousness of c diff either, but sometimes it just helps to try and see the funny side of things.
BTW, I've been off the Vanco now for 7 days and so far so good! No return of the dreaded "D". It might be too early to say for sure, but I'm keeping my spirits up for now.
