Princess Diana

Life is mostly froth and bubble;
Two things stand like stone:

Kindness in another's trouble,
Courage in our own.

Adam Lindsay Gordon, 19th century Australian poet, jockey, and politician.

When Princess Diana died, the above poem was mentioned as one of her favorites.

It does not seem as though the princess died 20 years ago. We were in England for the 10th anniversary. Her sons organized a memorial. Most speakers quoted passsages from the Bible but Harry gave a moving speech about his "mum."

I was never a Royals watcher until after Princess Diana died. She entered into a marriage with her prince with little preparation but learned how to cope. I was in Kensington Palace - where she moved after she left Prince Charles. You could "feel" her spirit. One of the gates to the palace was called "Diana's Gate" because of all the flowers people placed on it.

She is still "the people's princess."
